Los Angeles native Raina Shaw is best known as a savvy entertainment professional in the fields of radio, music and publishing. She was also the on-tour hairstylist for a popular 80s all-female group.
After her stint as a fashion model in Los Angeles, Paris and San Francisco her entertainment career included a successful stint as a consultant for several music executives and record labels such as Airtight Entertainment and Anansi/JAD Records, working with music entrepreneur Don Taylor, manager for top artists such as Bob Marley, L.A. Reid and Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, Soul II Soul and numerous other popular artists, producers and songwriters. She later showed the diversity of her management skills as a concert promoter for reggae and dancehall artists.
After leaving the music industry, Ms. Shaw became a hairstylist at the urging of a popular celebrity hairstylist that recognized her skills. She has worked for Yuko System Salon in Beverly Hills, the Regis Corporation (which is under the Vidal Sassoon banner), and is now an independent stylist. In the salon, she has been dubbed “The Salon Chair Therapist” because, while she makes her clients look fabulous, she also imparts pearls of wisdom that she utilizes in her own life.
Raina descends from a long line of fashionistas and this is a blog space that focuses on her first love. Fashion and beauty. Along with her fashion advice and her opinion on various beauty products, she is going to chronicle the awesome second half of her life in her Journey Of A Mid-Life Diva column featured on this site.
